Key Executives

The key executives have developed strong team dynamics through working closely together for more than 25 years. In 1991, Boon Hwee, Chow Boon and Kiat Wang founded Omni Electronics. Together, they built up the company and listed is as part of Omni Industries in 1997. Following the listing, they continued to expand into China, Thailand and Mexico, growing its revenue to over US$1 billion by 2001, before being acquired by Celestica Inc. for US$890 million. They have since founded Credence together in 2006.

Mr. Koh Boon Hwee, Managing Partner & Investment Committee Chairman

A distinguished corporate leader and entrepreneur, Boon Hwee is the founding partner of Credence and Chairman of the investment committee. Concurrently, Boon Hwee is a member of Agilent Technologies Inc, Chairman of AAC Technologies, Yeo Hiap Seng Limited, and Sunningdale Tech Limited.

Boon Hwee began his career in 1977 at Hewlett Packard ("HP") and rose to become its Managing Director in Singapore, a position he held from 1985 to 1990. Boon Hwee's other previous positions include:

Chairman of Singapore Telecom Group ("SingTel") and its predecessor organisations for 17 years
Chairman of Singapore Airlines Limited ("SIA") for 4 years
Chairman of Development Bank of Singapore ("DBS") for 4 years
Director on the Board of Temasek Holdings Private Limited for 15 years
  (Boon Hwee also served as a member of the Executive Committee from January 1997 to September 2010)
Chairman of the Wuthelam Group for 10 years

Boon Hwee was named the Outstanding Manager of the Year in 1991 by Business Times and DHL Worldwide. He was conferred The International Herald Tribune Visionary and Leader Honour in January 2003.

Boon Hwee contributes actively to non-profit organisations, and is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nanyang Technological University and a Director of the Hewlett Foundation in the United States.

Boon Hwee obtained his Bachelor's Degree (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London in 1972 and his MBA (Distinction) from the Harvard Business School in 1976.

Mr. Tan Chow Boon, Managing Partner

Chow Boon began his career in 1984 at HP where he started as an engineer and over seven years, held key operational and managerial positions in engineering, production, procurement and materials management.

In 1991, Chow Boon left HP and together with Kiat Wang and founded Omni Electronics, a Singapore EMS company and in 1995, started Eteq Components, a Singapore electronics components distribution company to enhance the EMS service offerings.

Between 1991 and 2004, Chow Boon held various executive positions, including that of Managing Director of Omni Electronics and Eteq Components, Executive Director of Omni Industries and Senior Vice President of Celestica Asia.

Chow Boon obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1984 and his Executive MBA from the Golden Gate University, California in 1992.

Mr. Seow Kiat Wang, Managing Partner

In 1984, Kiat Wang joined HP and in 1989, left HP to join Micropolis Corporation. Within a span of seven years, Kiat Wang gained extensive operational experience and held various management positions, where he was responsible for product quality and quality system enhancement.

In 1991 Kiat Wang, together with Chow Boon, founded Omni Electronics. He was instrumental in managing the operations excellence in Omni Electronics.

Kiat Wang received his first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1984 and his Masters degree in Engineering from the same university in 1988.

Ms. Sylvia Goh, Senior VP Finance

Sylvia brings with her 24 years of valuable experience.

Sylvia started her career as an Auditor with Price Waterhouse, and moved on to Apple Computer Singapore, covering tax, litigation support, records management and cost accounting before joining the pioneering team at Omni Electronics as the Financial Controller, bringing the company to listing. Sylvia has since taken on several roles including that of Financial Services Consultant at AIA Singapore and Finance Controller at Boston Plastics.

Sylvia graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy (Second Class Honours) from the National University of Singapore in 1988.

Mr. Michael Tay, VP Investments (Portfolio Operations)

Michael brings  with him 32 years of valuable experience.

An expert in operations management, Michael is a certified LEAN Practitioner with a vast manufacturing background. He began his career in 1980 and held various positions, including Engineer, Business Manager and General Manager, in various companies involved in metal stamping, cable harnessing, building automation and ventilation fans, before joining the pioneering team at Omni Electronics.

Ms. Chua Wei Chong, VP Investments (Portfolio Operations)

Wei Chong brings with her 22 years of valuable experience.

Wei Chong started her career as an auditor with Foo Kon Tan Grant Thornton. Since moving to the commercial sector, she has covered a wide spectrum of financial responsibilities covering financial, controlling, reporting, budgeting and planning, compliance and systems. She was a key member of the pioneering team to start up Omni Plastics Shanghai and also held corporate and regional finance roles with Omni Industries and Celestica. She later joined Tiger Airways as Head, Financial Planning and Reporting where she established and grew the Group's financial reporting and budgeting processes from its start-up to a listed company.

Wei Chong graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy from the National University of Singapore in 1990.

Mr. Liew Kou Yew, VP Investments

Kou Yew began his career as an R&D engineering with DSO National Laboratories in 1997, designing advanced systems for the Singapore military. He left DSO to join a global corporate and investment bank in 2006 and joined Harmony Capital, an Asian focused private equity fund in 2007. Over the past 10 years in private equity across several firms, he has invested in and managed portfolio companies across various countries in Asia covering industries from manufacturing, consumer services, and food and agriculture. His responsibilities included deal sourcing, due diligence and execution, operational improvement and portfolio management.

Kou Yew graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) with Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (1st class honours) in 1996, and a Master's of Science in Communication Engineering (with distinction) in 1997. In 2004 on a DSO scholarship, he obtained an MBA from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a CFA charter holder.

Mr. Allen Poon, Senior Associate

Allen began his career at Siemens as part of the Commercial Apprenticeship Program Asia-Pacific. During his time with the Infrastructure & Cities – Building Technologies division, Allen covered commercial topics spanning project insurance, finance, contracts management, customer negotiations and tender preparation as part of the Solutions commercial project management team. He also completed a job rotation programme in the areas of procurement, performance controlling and the Service business.

He later joined The Rohatyn Group (TRG) as part of the private equity Fund Analytics and Financial Control team, assuming multiple responsibilities including handling investor queries, fund accounting, managing capital calls and distributions, portfolio monitoring and financial analysis of portfolio companies.

Allen graduated from Singapore Management University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Accountancy and second major in Finance (Magna Cum Laude). He is also an Associate of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
